Wow, another year has come and gone and the older we get the fast it goes!  For some of you it is the first time a couple years that you have heard from us…..we are still alive!  2007 has been a year of recovery, reconciliation and renewal for the Landers.  I’ll just go thru each of our lives!
I am still home schooling the boys and that is going well, albeit quite a challenge as they grow older.  I’m very active in church activities and co-facilitate a ladies Bible/book study and I get to use some of my talents in church decorating.  I still have my goats, but have had to stop showing due to the havoc it wreaks on my asthma! (it took me a while to figure this out…I’m a bit stubborn)  I am working part time at an Awards company doing bookwork and anything else needed.  I enjoy playing with Sam’s horse “Apache” and took one 5 second ‘joy ride’ on him this summer, before being thrown off (I had a stupid-teenage moment)
Jacob, at 15 is quite a strapping lad.  He’s taller than I am, and is a freshman.  He’s studying biology, which he does not enjoy…especially the dissections he and I do! (I love it!).  He loves to read and finds Sci-Fi and mythology and Harry Potter (which mom loves as well)…currently he is writing his third short book.… Jake and I both share a love of the Harry Potter books, as well as Chronicle of Narnia.   Jake is quite the cook and often cooks dinner for us and lunch as well.  He has considering being a chef, but currently would rather be a Crypto-zoologist.  He has a couple unique pets:  Draco a Bearded Dragon and “Nagini – a Snowflake Moray Eel.
Victor spent a bulk of the year working for a local carpenter building Log Homes.  It was strenuous work, but fulfilling and physically he’s in the best shape he’s been in since before college!  Vic had a heart scare in the later part of the year, complete with a cardiac catheterization, (which showed a very healthy heart!) – it ended up being a hiatal hernia.  Vic’s been very active in AA, which has been an instrumental part of his journey to recovery.  Vic just began working at a new job with Midwest Industrial Builders in Chesterfield.  It is also in the carpentry field, but they are building cooling towers around the Midwest, thus far he really loves it.
Samuel, 9 – is also growing and is quite the farm helper.  Sam is very mechanical and spent a good deal of time this summer helping my dad build 2 Indian long houses and a wikiup. It was quite a history lesson for him.  Sam would much rather be outdoors building or working than doing school.  He’s struggling with reading, and while it is not happening as quickly as some think it should, he is making steady progress – all will work out in God’s timing.  Sam is proud owner of a goat and a pet rat named Scabbers
Elijah is 6 – it’s hard to believe my baby is that big.  He still enjoys snuggling and giving kisses.  He is also learning to read and has a great imagination.  Eli loves his Sunday School class and his teacher “Miss Leah” At this time he wants to be an Archeologist, over the past months he’s toyed with being a Pastor, a Fireman and an astronaut.  Eli also has a pet rat named Brownie.
Our church, Trinity Presbyterian (PCA), continues to be an integral part of our lives and we are so blessed to be a part of this body of believers.  Their support and encouragement, in addition to their accountability, has been a key factor in our rebuilding of our marriage.  Daily we thank God for our wonderful Pastor and the dear friends we have at Trinity.
God’s faithfulness to us has been demonstrated over and over again in the past year.  We have seen God work in some wonderful ways throughout the trials and suffering…we can truly say “It is Well with our Soul”
